CPI(M) stages dharna

The city unit of the CPI (M) staged a dharna in front of the Tehsildar's office here demanding restoration of full kerosene quota and issue of white ration cards to all the eligible. Party city secretary R. Raghu and State committee member Ch. Babu Rao led the sit-in protest. Addressing the gathering, they alleged that the government was watering down the public distribution system deliberately.

The government used to supply two litres of kerosene to those who had gas cylinders. Now, it was brought down to mere one litre. Most of the card holders were not receiving even that one litre, he said.
