The Patamatalanka Rudrabhumi Development Committee has appealed to people to extend their cooperation in developing Rudrabhumi, burial ground. The committee made a PowerPoint presentation on the developmental works taken up at the burial ground, here on Saturday. Vijayawada (East) MLA Yelamanchili Ravi, honorary president of the committee and others said that the project was estimated to cost Rs.4.5 crore. The committee could collect Rs.1.5 crore and commenced the works at the Rudrabhumi which is spread over four acres.

The land was divided into two portions: Rudrabhumi for conducting last rites; another for conducting the rituals after the last rites like pedda karma or chinna karma. Both portions have different entrances so as to ensure that the cremation do not interfere with rituals taking place.

The committee will install gas and electrical crematoriums in a phased manner, they said. The committee would provide transportation facilities to shift dead bodies to the burial ground.
