Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council C. Ramachandraiah has said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asking the media about the likely benefits of Special Category Status the State was most surprising.
In a statement on Wednesday, Mr. Ramachandraiah alleged that this sort of attitude indicated that Mr. Naidu himself was not very keen about the State getting SCS.
After a Union Minister of State made it clear that the NDA government was not giving SCS to Andhra Pradesh, the people of the State pinned their hopes on Mr. Naidu’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But the issue was not even on the agenda for discussion.

Contrary to expectations, Mr. Naidu raised questions such as “What if no funds were given by the Centre after granting SCS? Why should I beg the Centre?” at the media briefing after meeting the Prime Minister, and wallowed in self-pity. He said Mr. Naidu had let go an excellent opportunity to right the wrongs when he met the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, YSR Congress leader and former MLA Jogi Ramesh said that Mr. Naidu should tell the people clearly what transpired at the meeting between him and Mr. Modi. He alleged that Mr. Naidu had betrayed the people of the State yet again. “After making presentations on 12 issues, Mr. Naidu spoke to the Prime Minister for half an hour. According to our sources, the Chief Minister sought the Prime Minister’s help to wriggle out of the cash-for-vote case booked by Telangana,” he added.
