CITU calls for success of ‘jail bharo'

The Centre for Indian Trade Unions city unit has made an appeal for making the country-wide Jail Bharo programme on November 8 a success to bring pressure on the Government to concede the justified demands of the workers and employees.

The CITU city assistant secretary M.V. Sudhakar said that there was unprecedented rise in prices of commodities because of forward and futures trading which made the life of workers and employees very difficult.

The weakening of the public distribution system also contributed to the price rise, he said and added that there was a demand for increasing the minimum wages up to Rs.10,000.

Mr. Sudhakar wanted the Government to take action against the managements which were not implementing the workers laws and that efforts should be made to help all workers get pension.

The limits on the bonus and provident fund should be lifted, he added.

The CITU organised a torch rally to mobilise support for the Jail Bharo programme. CITU city secretary U. Trimurthulu, Autonagar leaders D. Satyam, Sattar, Durga and others were present.
