Movie buffs, particularly fans of actor Chiranjeevi, went berserk on Wednesday as the film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy hit the screens in the city. Chiranjeevi’s previous movie was Khaidi 150 released more than two years ago.
Fans were much excited as most cinemas in the city screened benefit shows following permission to screen special shows between 1 a.m. and 10 a.m. by the State government just a day before the release.
Most of the single screen theatres screened the movie in the early hours of the day and sold tickets at higher prices. Almost all the cinemas, including multiplexes, screened the movie on the first day and the same situation is likely to continue till the weekend. However, the hungama that is seen in the streets of Gandhi Nagar, where huge number of cinemas are located, was missing as tickets were sold a few days ago through online and corporate bookings. By permitting more shows in the first one week, the government intended to curb black-marketing of tickets and also law and order issues. The ticket price was also increased by about 30% both in the multiplexes and single screen cinemas.
