Just days after the Supreme Court treated ‘eunuchs’ as third gender, a New York-based business development organisation Global Business Incubator (GBI), has come forward to provide entrepreneurship among the much-maligned community.

GBI, which strives for sustainable economic development and inclusive growth at the global level, will provide opportunity for transgenders to lead a better life.

“For the first time in the State, GBI is promoting education and business in transgender community. We want to provide them a respectful life in the society,” said the GBI organisers.

GBI will give ideas for interested transgenders to pursue education and start their own businesses.

Officers can forward the names of the transgenders approaching them for loans to take up small business establishments, said GBI (India) director Srinivas Gogineni.

“Hijras are a neglected community in the society. It is a good sign that transgenders were provided all rights according to the Constitution along with males and females. Now, it is our responsibility to embrace them and extend cooperation to live happily on a par with other two genders,” said Mr. Srinivas.

Pilot project

GBI advisor Swapan Siddharth said the organisation will take a small group of ‘eunuchs’ as a pilot project and extend them ideas for starting business, provide financial assistance and make them a success.

“We gave business opportunities for rural women, farmers, poor and students. Now, we want to focus on the third gender. Our aim is to prove that transgenders can stand on a par with males and females and live in a better way in the society,” said Mr. Siddharth.

Interested transgenders and officers can contact 9494541379 for further information, said the GBI director.
