CFPA, UNESCO award for The Hindu photographer

Ch. V.S. Vijaya Bhaskara Rao, Senior Special News Photographer of The Hindu has bagged the prestigious award of The Humanity Photo Awards (HPA)-2017. Mr. Rao portrayed the lives of Kayitha Lambadas, a tribe that is found in parts of Telangana in a series of photographs.

HPA contest was organised by The China Folklore Photographic Association (CFPA) and The United Nationals Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

The Performance Award of HPA 2017 has been given under the Portrait & Costume category.

The HPA Work Team informed that 6,387 participants from 133 countries and regions registered for the contest and 7,848 photo sets got qualified initially. Later, 666 photographers made it to the second level and 500 of them from across the globe have been selected for the Performance Awards under various other categories. The award will be presented on September 16, 2017 at a function in China.
