Cars distributed to youth under ‘Chanakya’ scheme

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu flagging off vehicles given by the A.P. Brahmin Development Corporation to unemployed youth.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu gave away 30 cars to the unemployed youth under the ‘Chanakya’ self-employment scheme of the A.P. Brahmin Welfare Corporation on Friday.

He flagged off the cars near the Grievance Hall at Undavalli.

Mr. Naidu said the A.P. Brahmin Welfare Corporation was set for the first time in the country in Andhra Pradesh in December 2014. It was allocated a total budget of ₹285 crore in five years.

The corporation designed schemes to help poor Brahmins of all age groups by providing financial assistance towards education, coaching, skill development, entrepreneurship and welfare and culture.

The corporation spent ₹137.2 crore towards education, including ₹20.20 crore for overseas education of 211 students.

Also, ₹1.6 crore was spent towards skill development of the unemployed youth and ₹21.12 crore towards entrepreneurship and ₹41.34 crore towards implementation of welfare programmes, he said.

Mr. Naidu said the A.P. Brahmin Cooperative Credit Society extended loans to the tune of ₹23 crore to 10,000 beneficiaries.

Corporation chairman Vemuri Ananda Surya was present.
