Candlelight ceremony held to mark 60 anniversary of ISGF

To mark the 60 anniversary of the Indian Scout and Guide Fellowship, (ISGF), veteran scouts and guides from Vijayawada held a candle light ceremony by symbolically lighting 60 candles at the PG centre of P.B. Siddhartha College of Art and Sciences on Saturday.

Principal M. V. N. Padma Rao, urged the youth to follow a principled life and noble ideals of the Constitution to build a just and inclusive society.

Head of the Department of Management Studies Rajesh Jampala said if everybody performed their duties well, none would have to demand their rights.

V. Uma Maheshwari, a veteran guide who has been involved in the movement since 1953, said organisations like the ISGF were cardinal in building a peaceful world sans violence and prejudice.

Gani, a balladeer sang songs with sublime meaning, which enthralled the packed auditorium.

The event was presided over by K.V. Krishna Rao, ISGF’s former national council member.

Later, the members distributed fruits to the inmates of Nirmal Hriday Bhavan.
