Krishna district in-charge Minister Thota Narasimham on Wednesday went around flood-ravaged areas, interacted with farmers and flood victims, and reviewed the situation with the Collector and other officials.
Addressing a press conference, Mr. Narasimham said that nearly 300 villages were marooned across Krishna district and as per preliminary estimates, farmers had incurred crop loss of Rs.120 crore besides infrastructure loss of Rs.250 crore.
He said nearly 1,200 houses were damaged, some fully and some partially, while 1300 houses were completely submerged in floodwater.

He said the widespread disaster caused by the cyclone had established the fact Budameru modernisation project was the need of the hour. Meanwhile, he said that the law would take its course in the Durga Temple EO’s case.
Secondary Education Minister K. Parthasaradhi said that the district had recorded 270 mm rainfall against the normal 70 mm. The officials had been asked to speed up the enumeration exercise to enable the Government to provide succour to cyclone- affected population.
Vijayawada MLAs Malladi Vishnu, Vellampalli Srinivas and Pedana MLA Jogi Ramesh, MLC Ilapuram Venkaiah, and in-charge Municipal Commissioner K. Bhaskar were present.

Earlier in the day, Minister Narasimham reviewed the flood situation with the district officials at the State Guest House.
In a report submitted to him, District Collector Budha Prakash Jyothi cited extensive damage caused by the cyclone in the Budameru catchment areas. According to his report, paddy, cotton, chilli, turmeric crops and vegetables were destroyed in vast stretches while many roads had breached due to the flood impact. Nearly 7,000 people were rehabilitated across the district and 30,000 food packets and drinking water was distributed to flood victims.
The Minister then headed to the Government hospital to console the family members of Dadi Kanaka Lakshmi, a resident of Rotary Nagar, who died in the flood impact on Tuesday. He presented a cheque for Rs. 1.5 lakh to the victim’s kin.
He also visited HB Colony, Ramarajya Nagar, Urmila Nagar, Rotary Nagar, Budameru Vanthena, Indira Naik Nagar, LBS Nager, Rajiv Nagar, Kandrika and Madhuranagar.
