The bleeding of a gastric ulcer that had become a threat to the life of a 70-year-man who was brought to the Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) in a semi-conscious state was arrested using the new Argon Plasma Coagulation technique. KIMS gastroentrologist E.Nalini Prasad and hepatologist (liver specialist) Hanumantha Rao performed the procedure on the patient and arrested the bleeding.

In another procedure a stent was put in the carotid artery of 78 year old man.

Senior interventional cardiologist P.V.Sivaprasad of Sentini Hospital performed the procedure on Seetharamaiah of Nandamuru village, Unguturu mandal.

Dr Sivaprasad said that the procedure was done at the request of the man's son. A CT – Angio of the brain vessels showed that the carotid artery to the brain on the left side was completely blocked and 99 per cent stenosis (a type of block) on the right side.

The man was also on treatment for cardiomyopath. This was a very high risk angioplasty, said the hospital director Padma. The patient has since recovered and was discharged on Thursday, she said.
