BJP terms ‘T' leaders' resignations a farce

July 09, 2011 08:40 am | Updated August 16, 2016 12:21 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

BJP State official spokesperson V. Srinivasa Raju criticised the Telangana Congress leaders saying that their resignations in favour of bifurcation of the State were just a “farce” and a “drama” enacted only to mislead the people of both the regions.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr. Raju said even after sending in their resignations, the Congress leaders occupying ministerial and other positions were continuing to discharge their official functions without bothering to fulfil their commitment to their stated objective of achieving separate Telangana.

Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy had put in her papers but she was still discharging her duties as Minister, which would be unacceptable.

Mr. Raju observed that the Telangana Congress leaders would have prevailed upon the Governor to accept their resignations had they been honest and sincere in their efforts for achieving their goal.

“They are just indulging in gimmicks and they are sending people into further confusion. Nobody will forgive these Ministers and MLAs,” he added.

Stating that the Congress had adopted double standards on the issue of Telangana, Mr. Raju said because of this dual approach the people of the entire State were suffering.

He said because of deadlock in the administration, thousands of files were kept pending these days and it affected almost all developmental activities.

On the 2G scam, Mr. Raju said Dayanidhi Maran's resignation was not the end of it. He saw another scam in the allotment of KG basin gas reserves.

There should be a thorough investigation into it, the BJP leader said.
