April 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:57 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The BJP’s Maha Jansampark Abhiyan (mass contact programme) slated for launch on May 10 is posing a major challenge for its leaders and cadres, thanks to the delay in the announcement of special category status to the State. Even as the party is facing criticism, its woes compounded with Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh’s remarks in the Parliament two days ago.

The purpose of the programme is creating awareness about the welfare schemes being implemented by Centre, is unlikely to be served. People are said to be in no mood to welcome the BJP cadre, with a concrete assurance on the special status remaining pending. The party, which is boasting of a membership of two lakh-plus in the city and about 21 lakh in the State, advised its rank and file to tell people what the BJP has already done for the State.

The party has launched a campaign distributing pamphlets with the slogan ‘A.P’s all-round development is BJP’s goal’ . The party has furnished information about funds pledged for Capital, Polavaram project, inland waterways, industries, metro rail projects and others.
