Admirers of Narendra Modi in the city are eagerly waiting for the opportunity to get a feel of the phenomenon called ‘NaMo’ and the day when he interacts with them under ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ programme. The day is not too far as he will be going live through a video-conference, most likely on February 8 or 9.

Discussion over local issues

Twelve tea stalls have been identified by the Vijayawada and Guntur Chapters of Citizens for Accountable Governance (CAG) for taking forward the BJP’s high-profile campaign which is aimed at strengthening participatory democracy.

The discussion-over-tea will revolve around local issues and people will have a chance to talk to Mr. Modi in what is going to be a first-of-its-kind mass interaction with the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate through 1,000 tea stalls across the country undertaken by his campaign managers.

Of the 12 tea stalls, seven are in Vijayawada and the remaining in Guntur, according to CAG coordinator S. Bhanuteja. He told

The Hindu that CAG was making necessary arrangements for the programme and the technical support for it (video-conference) was being extended by the telecom wing of Videocon Group. People can ask questions and also make suggestions to Mr. Modi on issues of relevance, thereby setting the stage for general elections.

Nearly 300 volunteers of CAG are working for the successful conduct of the event in Vijayawada and Guntur which occupy a prime position in the emerging political landscape. Mr. Modi is likely to visit Vijayawada in the run-up to the elections but his itinerary has not yet been fixed, according to sources in the BJP.
