Samaikyandhra activists laid a siege to the city by staging rasta roko for over two hours at all the eight entry points into the city as part of a protest called “Ashtadigbandhana’ on Wednesday. Members of the APNGOs and Lorry Owners’ Association, under the aegis of local cable network, SITI Cable, arranged road blocks at Benz Circle, Ramavarapadu Circle, Kanakadurgamma Varadhi, Prakasam Barrage, Gollapudi Y Junction, both arms of the Milk Factory - Jakkampudi Flyover and the Ajitsinghnagar Flyover.

At the busy Benz Circle, activists danced and staged street plays. At Ramavarapadu, where the Student JAC conducted rasta rook, some students sat in the centre of the circle around traffic island and studied to show their earnestness in continuing their studies despite the disturbances.

Vehicular traffic on NH 5 (Chennai to Kolkata) and NH 9 (Hyderabad to Machilipatnam) came to a standstill for over three hours, two hours while the activists staged the rasta roko and for an additional hour after that.
