Capital will be between Vijayawada, Guntur: Nani

Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) here on Sunday said the capital would be located between Vijayawada and Guntur cities. Speaking to mediapersons the MP said the area was equidistant from all places in the State. The region has potential to be the new capital, he said.

On airport, Mr. Nani said the Gannavaram airport would be developed as international airport. The government would acquire necessary land for it. A runway of 12,500 ft would be constructed to facilitate landing of bigger aircraft. In all, 1200 acres would be made available for the airport. He said in simple words, it would be equal to Old Bombay airport, which has 1300 acres.

The government plans to develop Tirupati, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada airports as international airports on par with Shamshabad airport. The air traffic would be distributed among these airports. The Gannavaram airport expansion would be made keeping in view of next 15 to 20 years requirements, he added.

Earlier, he participated in the State government’s new progarmme Neeru-Chettu at NTR Circle along with MLA Gadde Ramamohan Rao, Mayor Koneru Sridhar and others planted saplings as part of the programme.
