Actors dish out entertaining fare for a good cause

The star cricket cup match was organised to support Hudhud cyclone victims in Visakhapatnam. Participating at the award presentation ceremony, MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao said the match was played for a noble cause, so there were no winners or losers. He presented the cup to the two teams.

They cheered and whistled whenever the ball vanished beyond the boundary line. They clapped and waved as their favourite film actor was batting during T20 cricket match between actor Srikanth IX and Tarun IX at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium here on Sunday. The star cricket cup match was organised to support the Hudhud cyclone victims in Visakhapatnam.

Even as the security personnel tried to prevent them from entering the dais and boundary line, fans did not budge and tried to have a selfie with their favourite actor using smart phones. The scene and mood was upbeat since the beginning of the match till its conclusion after Srikanth IX team won the match with 39 runs. Hundreds of spectators, mostly teenagers enjoyed every moment of the match amidst impressive performances by actresses on the dais.

Though the match started one and half hours behind schedule, spectators waited for the arrival of the actors patiently. They welcomed mega star Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan Tej with claps and whistles when he came with the two teams for the toss. Batting first, Srikanth IX scored 199 runs for nine in 20 overs. In reply, Tarun’s team could mop up only 160 runs losing all wickets.

The major attraction of the event was the performances of actresses Kamna Jethmalani, Gowri Munjal, Archana and others. The dance performed by the actress Hamsa Nandini on super-hit song ‘mirchi mirchi…..’ received loud applause from the spectators.

Tollywood Cricket Association and Sreemitra organised the fund raising match. MP Kesineni Srinivas and Ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao and P. Pulla Rao were present during the first few overs in the morning.
