It was a moment to cherish for Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) for its team won the South Zone T-20 championship for Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy at Kochi for the first time on Sunday.
Andhra played five league matches and won four against Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and garnered 16 points.
“Kudos to the boys for helping their team to qualify for the all India league-cum knockout event scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar from April 1 to 5,” said an elated M.S.K. Prasad, director, Cricket Operations, ACA. Andhra will be playing with other zone toppers like Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.

This season has been fruitful to ACA as its teams entered the knockout stage in eight out of 10 tournaments in different age groups. “It is a record in the 60-year-old history ACA. Our teams will not rest on the laurels and would continue to apply themselves to prove that they are not inferior to other teams,” said general secretary Gokaraju Ganga Raju.
In the Ranji Trophy, Andhra team graduated to Elite Group from Plate Group for a gap of seven years and also finished as the one of the top eight teams of the country.
The positive results were primarily owing to the relentless efforts of the association in developing quality infrastructure in the 13 affiliated districts.
