Aadhaar linkage drive evokes good response

December 19, 2014 12:14 am | Updated 12:30 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The Transport Department’s Aadhaar linkage drive evoked positive response as authorities claimed that more than 800 vehicle owners had got their vehicle details seeded with Aadhaar cards on Wednesday.

To facilitate existing vehicle owners for Aadhaar linkage, the department proposed to establish linkage centres at Benz circle, Chennupati, Seetharampuram, Ilapuram, Garapati and at Swagruha Foods fuel stationsfrom Wednesday. But due to dearth of volunteers, authorities could operate only three centres.

“Efforts are being made to rope in NSS volunteers for data collection. If things work out, more centres will be established,” said Deputy Transport Commissioner S. Venkateswara Rao.
