Westin College launches new facilities

Secondary Education Minister K. Parthasarathy has inaugurated a guest room, housekeeping training lab and international food and beverage department at Westin College of Hotel and Business Management here.

Addressing the gathering on Monday, the Minister said that the guest had a special place in Indian culture and tradition. The Indian hospitality had won accolades across the globe. The hospitality industry or business would grow if the guests/customers were satisfied. The opportunities in hospitality industry were galore with globalisation, he said.

The Minister said that the government was providing fee reimbursement to the students pursuing hotel management courses with a view to uplifting the poor.

College director K. Durga Prasad said that their college was offering courses that suit the international requirements. Every year, 10 poor students free training. On production of white ration card, 20 to 30 percent fee reimbursement was also offered to the poor students. The students who studied here got good placements. As many as 750 students were placed abroad and 300 students in other parts of the country so far, he added.

College management board members S. Mohan Reddy, K. Sumathi, coordinators P. Aditya, J.Jagadish, administrative officer K. Sailaja and others were present.
