A major portion of layouts turns into breeding ground for mosquitoes

Municipal Commissioner G. Ravi Babu has asked officials to serve notices on the vacant land owners who have not levelled their lands in Ajith Singh Nagar here on Wednesday.

The Commissioner and the Vijayawada (Central) MLA Malladi Vishnu visited Radha Nagar and other areas in the city. On the occasion, they noticed most of the lands in Doctors Colony and Visalandhra Colony were vacant and filled with sullage and waste water. A major portion of the layouts have turned into breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

The Commissioner asked officials to verify whether the land owners were paying the vacant land tax (VLT) or not. They were also asked to serve notices on the land owners under Public Health Act directing them to take the necessary steps to level their lands. He also cautioned the residents living in the vicinity that stringent action would be taken against them if they let out their drainage or waste water into open grounds.

Noticing that the VMC has a land adjacent to Radha Nagar, he suggested them to fence it properly to prevent encroachments. Satyanarayana Raju, Executive Engineer Bhaskar Rao, AMOH Lakshmi Kumari, Assistant Commissioner Jhansi Lakhsmi, and others were present.
