City Police Commissioner N. Madhusudhan Reddy has appealed to the police officers to maintain restraint during Dasara festivities, and extend good services to devotees.
The police deployed on bandobust should behave in a polite manner with the pilgrims who throng from distant places and facilitate hassle free darshan for them. Special attention should be paid towards the aged and physically challenged persons, he said.
“Though the police need to work extra hours at many points, home guards, constables and police officers should work with patience and try to get appreciation from the devotees.

Speaking at a meeting with the police personnel at AR Grounds here on Saturday, the Police Commissioner said the ‘Navarathri Utsavams’ would be celebrated from October 16 to 23.
The officials divided the city into 28 sectors.

Round-the-clock checking would be done at bus and railway stations with bomb disposal squads.
The police were requested to keep a vigil on movement of strangers at public places. Services of NCC and NSS volunteers would be taken for the smooth conduct of Dasara celebrations, said the Police Commissioner.
Heavy rush
There will be heavy rush on October 20, i.e. on ‘Mula Nakshatram’ day and on October 24, i.e. on ‘Vijayadasami’ day.
The police will make traffic diversions/restrictions for the convenience of devotees and the temple officials, media and the devotees are requested to cooperate for the police to prevent traffic congestions.
One Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), 4 Additional DCPs, 12 Assistant Commissioners of Police, 47 Circle Inspectors, 116 Sub-Inspectors/Reserve Sub-Inspectors, 100 women police constables and 910 home guards would be deployed for Navarathri Utsavams bandobust, said DCP M. Ravindranath Babu.
