Nagamani told the complainant that her husband found a few gold biscuits while he was digging land and said they were in need of money and would sell gold at lesser price. Believing Nagamani, the victim introduced her brother, who was a resident of Yenamalakuduru in Vijayawada.

The gang gave a piece of original gold for testing and later they handed over fake gold. The accused collected Rs. 4 lakh from the party on October 6, this year and escaped. After noticing that they got cheated, the victim lodged a complaint with the police, said CCS Assistant Commissioner of Police G. Ramakrishna.

CCS Sub-Inspector V. Appa Rao was present at the press conference.
