Rythu Sadassu to educate farmers on better cultivation practices

The district administration is all geared to organise Rythu Sadassu at various places with a view to sensitising and educating farmers on the best cultivation and pest management practices. They will also be informed of latest technologies being available for supporting their cultivation of crops and about the type of crops to be cultivated on different soils.

One such Rythu Sadassu will be held at the revenue divisional level covering various mandals at the Andhra Loyola College here on Tuesday. Experts will speak on a wide range of topics like technological innovation, pest management, irrigation, marketing, sericulture, fisheries and so on.

V. Purna Sudhakar Rao, joint director of agriculture, says that the Rythu Sadassu is being conducted with the sole purpose of involving agriculture scientists and experts in the process of information dissemination on best agricultural practices. Their help is also being taken to resolve problems and clarify to the doubts of the farmers.

For Tuesday's Rythu Sadassu, nearly 3,000 farmers from 14 mandals in the Vijayawada revenue division will be participating. Whenever such a conference is being held, transport and RTC bus services are being provided to enable farmers to attend the meet from every mandal in the division. Activities and programmes at the rythu sadassu will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

District Collector Peeyush Kumar will preside over the inaugural function of the Rythu Sadassu on Tuesday when Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister K. Partha Sarathy will be chief guest. MLAs, MLCs and other people's representatives will participate.

The highlight of the sadassu will be that there will be nearly 40 to 50 stalls erected by the agriculture and allied departments to showcase their activities and facilities to the visiting farmers. The registration of farmers will start at 9 a.m. and it will conclude at 10 a.m. There will be inaugural meeting.

In the afternoon, there will be meetings and interactive sessions where scientists and experts will clear doubts of farmers on various technical and pest management aspects of cultivation.
