MP distributes Tata Trusts’ health cards in Gandepalli

Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) has distributed health cards to the beneficiaries of Swastha Kutumbam, a programme of Tata Trusts for the marginalised communities in Vijayawada Parliamentary constituency, at a programme at Gandepalli village in Kanchikacherla mandal of Krishna district.

The MP, who handed over the cards to 59 villagers on Wednesday, said 40,000 cards would be distributed in the first phase in Nandigama area.

Later, two lakh cards would be given to the beneficiaries in 265 villages in the constituency. The beneficiaries can utilise the services in as many as 80 hospitals, he said.

Nandigama MLA Tangirala Sowmya, Kanchikacherla MRO Vijay Kumar, MDO Anuradha and others were present.

The Tata Trusts has launched a health insurance scheme, Swastha Kutumbam, under the concept of universal health coverage, the scheme is open to 1 million residents living in 2.5 lakh households across 265 villages.

The scheme seeks to provide universal healthcare to the rural population of Vijayawada and replicating the same model across States.

The Swastha Kutumbam initiative has been designed by controlling costs and ensuring that premium paid is lower than any other existing schemes in the State. In this family floater scheme, beneficiaries will pay a premium of Re 1/day per person to get a cover of Rs. 1 lakh per family.

Costs related to medicines, diagnostics, and post-surgery care will be covered.
