Lack of facilities in Hostels; Notice to 20 officials

Show cause notices have been issued to 20 social welfare officials for non-maintanence of proper sanitation facilities in hostels in East Godavari District, authorities said on Saturday.

About 65 teams comprising Revenue Development Officer, Tashildar in the district made surprise check on 146 Social welfare hostels for Backward Class, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes and took note of poor facilities at 20 hostels following disciplinary show cause notices were issued to them, Collector Gopalakrishna Diwadi said.

The facilities which were found lacking included drinking water problem and irregular attendance of staff among other problems, he said.

On the basis of report submitted by the team the administration took action against the two welfare hostels officials, facing serious allegations and 20 officials were issued disciplinary action show cause notices, he said.

Six others were issued notices for non attendance without informing the concerned officials, he added.

The officials belong to Cholangi, Veeravaram, Kakinada Pedapudi, Rajangaram, Kotikesavaram, Kapileswarapuram, Annaparthy, Kesenapalli, Razole, P. Gannavaram, Kadiam, (one member each), and two each from Pithapuram, Polavaram, Kirlampudi and Tuni areas.
