Owners hesitate to rent out their premises to lower rung leaders. The Congress leaders had announced that they would be conducting meetings every week and leaders from different districts would be attending such meetings and programmes.

Lower cadre leaders in different political parties are having a tough time finding a decent accommodation on rent for their senior leaders, in the city.

Despite scanning the best of the apartments and individual houses in different localities, they are unable to convince house owners as many are not willing to rent out their houses to political leaders.

Post bifurcation, senior leaders from different parties declared that they would be frequently visiting the city and wanted to find their party workers to find houses or flats for rent.

The Congress leaders had announced that they would be conducting meetings every week and leaders from different districts would be attending such meetings and programmes.

So is the case with leaders from ruling party and the Opposition as well. Most leaders are forced to stay in hotels or at their relatives’ houses but the usual hopping into different premises is not going well with many. Hence, they are requesting their local party workers to find an accommodation but all their efforts are turning futile.

There are many factors and the prime one being space. Senior leaders have asked for flats or houses measuring over 4,000 square feet and there are hardly such big flats available for rent in the city, says a local leader of a popular party.

Another problem is that most house owners are sceptical about payment of rent.

They are of the notion that political leaders skip payments, this is despite the fact that the leaders are assuring to sign agreements legally. Yet, not many house owners are convinced, he explains.

The preferred localities in the city are Jammichettu centre, LIC Colony, Chennupati Petrol Pump junction etc. and a few are opting for premises at Tadepalli and near Acharya Nagarjuna University.

In few cases, though the house owners were willing to rent out the flats but their neighbours and the respective apartment association were raising objections.

Apartment association members are expressing concerns about party workers creating nuisance and haphazard car parking on the streets, adds another party leader, who is scouting for a flat for a senior leader.
