Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences has initiated the process of appointment of a Registrar as the term of the incumbent T. Venugopala Rao came to an end on October 3. Dr. Rao has been asked by the Executive Council of the university to continue to hold the charge until the successor is appointed.

Eligibility

The university on Friday issued a notification inviting applications from eligible candidates for the post. An academician in the field of medical sciences not lower than the rank of a professor with five years of standing or an officer not below the rank of Deputy Secretary in the government or an officer of the university not below the rank of Joint Registrar are eligible to apply. The candidates should have at least three years of left over service for retirement, as the term of the Registrar is three years.

Scrutiny

After the last date for submission of applications (October 23), the Executive Council will meet and constitute a committee with some of its own members to scrutinise the applications and prepare a list of three names.

The full-member EC will meet again and pick up a name to recommend to the government for appointment.

As the relevant provisions of the university statute allow reappointment of the incumbent for a term of another three years, Dr. Rao will also be applying for the post.

The process is likely to come to an end by mid-November, the university authorities said.
