It is an event nobody misses in Ramapuram, the native village of Akkineni Nageswara Rao. The three-day free multi-speciality and oral health camp being organised by Akkineni International Foundation (AIF) from Friday is a boon to everyone in the village and several others in the vicinity. This is the fifth year that the foundation has been conducting the mega event.
The AIF, based at Hyderabad is conducting the three-day free medical and health camp from June 18 to 20 in association with Sai Oral Health Foundation (SHF) and District Health Department. Some 2,000 persons are expected to attend the camp for screening and treatment of various diseases.
Around 150 medical employees from the SHF and the Health Department are participating in the camp and specialists from corporate hospitals will take part in the camp, according to A.S. Narayana, co-ordinator for the camp. “Response from the people to the camp is good. I had to wait for nearly two hours for the doctor to examine me,” says G. Yesubabu. “Giving something to the place of our birth is the objective behind organising the health camp. Though the SHF is the visible face at the camp, the main sponsors are ANR and Atluri. L. Sairam, Pratha Atluri, both doctors in the US. For the last five years we have been conducting the camp. This year's response is really good,” said Mr. Narayana. Annapurna Studios Manager K. Seeta was also present.
