MACHILIPATNAM: International table tennis player Naina Jaiswal on Sunday said that each home should have a girl child. Women play a crucial role in creating a better society.
Delivering the valedictory address of the Machilipatnam Yuva Keratalu on the Hindu College grounds, Ms. Jaiswal appealed to students to be brave to achieve their goals. “We should not fear about incidents such as Nirbhaya and one should be adventurous and courageous,” she said.
Sharing her journey of her life as a sports woman, Ms. Jaiswal thanked her parents who always encouraged her to become a sports woman. “I always give equal priority both for sports and education. We have to take the opportunity of the encouragement by our parents to create wonders in the chosen field.”

The Hyderabadi player said that life as a student was incredible. Ms. Jaiswal interacted with the girl students during the cultural festival. The Krishna district was beautiful, she said referring to scenic beauty of agricultural fields and the Krishna river.
Addressing the gathering, Education Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that the port town of Machilipatnam would have a great future as it would witness development in future. “The port town has potential to attract investments and the present generation will have better employment opportunities in future.”
Information and Broadcasting Minister Palle Raghuandha Reddy and Excise and BC Welfare Minister K. Ravindra appealed to the students to focus on academics, apart from cultural and creative activities.

On the last day of the Machilipatnam Yuva Keratalu, college students performed various skits on social themes, particularly on women welfare. Mr. Ravindra and Machilipatnam Member of Parliament K. Narayana presented prizes to the winners of various events.
