A team of experts inspected the retaining wall of Sree Durga Malleswara Swamivarla Devasthanam here on Saturday. The eight-member team inspected the 40-metre-high retaining wall in the wake of appearance of cracks on it. The team spent more than 2 hours and inspected the wall and all it tiers. Kanakadurga temple Executive Officer N. Vijayakumar accompanied them and explained about the wall.
The team comprised of professors, retired professors, retired engineers in chief (EnC) and chief engineers (CE); Narasimha Rao retired professor IIT, Chennai, A. Mehar, retired professor IIT, C.V.R. Murty visiting professor IIT, Hyderabad, R. Kondal Rao, retired E-n-C, V. Murahari Reddy, retired E-n-C, TTD Chief Engineer, retired stapathi of endowments department and others were present.
The team, however, did not make any comments about the structure and its stability. The team members met the EO once again in the evening to discuss some more issues related to the wall. The team would submit its report to the government. Later, the team left to Mangalagiri to inspect the reported cracks in rajagopuram of the temple.

It may be recalled that Chennai-based expert Madhavan inspected the cracks in first week of June. The temple authorities, quoting Prof. Madhavan said, “It's sheer media scare. There is no impending danger.”
