CPI(M) decries arrest of its leaders

The Communist Party of India-Marxist CPI(M) city unit has condemned the arrests of its State secretary B.V. Raghavulu and others.

The CPI(M) activists staged a dharna at Sunnapubattilu centre here and burnt an effigy of the State government to protest the arrests, here on Tuesday.

On the occasion, CPI(M) city secretariat member Donepudi Kasinath said that the CPI(M) have been suggesting the government to bring down the coal prices so that the power generation costs would come down drastically. The CPI(M) leaders were arrested for staging a sit in protest to draw the attention of the government in this regard, he said, adding “the CPI(M) city unit strongly condemns the arrests.

The government is trying to scare the people with the arrests. The people will continue to agitate as and when the burden was imposed on them.”
