CPI (M) central committee to meet in city

May 16, 2010 08:19 pm | Updated 08:19 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The extended meeting of the CPI (M) central committee will be held here from August 7 to 10 to discuss a wide range of issues concerning the people. The city will be hosting such a meet of the CPI (M) after a gap of 28 years.

CPI (M) central committee member Paturu Ramaiah and State executive member Y. Venkateswara Rao told a press conference on Saturday that the Central and State governments have not responded to issues like price rise and inflation despite several agitations launched by the Left parties.

They castigated the Congress government in the State for diluting several welfare schemes and placing financial burden on the people indirectly.

Weeding out of ration cards in the name of bogus and duplicate ones, erratic power supply and non-implementation of the scheme of reimbursement of tuition fees of students studying professional courses were only some of the striking examples of the Congress government's “anti-people” policies, they said.
