He said there was a need to implement Chanakya Antyodaya , a bank-linked self-employment scheme for the poorest of the poor, and Kashyapa pension scheme for the old and the destitute.

Mr. Krishna Rao also underscored the need to extend support to the community by providing continuous education, skill development, and entrepreneurship opportunities.

He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for setting up the corporation through which funds for welfare of the community were disbursed.

He said even while maintaining transparency, the corporation was trying to rope in benevolent segments of society for implementation of two new schemes — Sri Krishna-Sudama Endowment and Akshaya Brahma Nidhi Endowment.

Under the first scheme, a donation of Rs. 5 lakh and above can be made, which will go into the endowment fund. The interest earned on it will be disbursed to the beneficiaries on yearly basis.

He said the first contribution of Rs. 5 lakh under the scheme had been made by R. Sudha Rani (Ophthalmology), Managing Director, SS Multi-speciality Hospitals, in Tirupati in memory of Prof. K. Raghava Naidu.
