Doctors at Gayatri Hospitals here have removed a foreign body from the lung of a 19-month-old baby using ‘flexible bronchoscopy’.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Dr. A. Subba Rao said that a couple from Kanchikacherla sought treatment for their son who was suffering from respiratory problems.

“After suspecting blockage in a lung by a foreign body, we used flexible bronchoscopy instrument and removed the 0.8mm foreign body. Upon observation it was found to be a piece of betel nut,” Dr. Rao said. It was a rare case and treatment for infants was not easily available in the city, he added.
