9 get bail in liquor case

The Second Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Tuesday granted bail to nine accused persons in spurious liquor case. The court asked the police to hand over the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report in a sealed cover by Wednesday. The hearing on the bail plea of Malladi Vishnu and the petition filed by Special Investigation Team (SIT) seeking police custody of the accused were put off to Wednesday.

Five persons died and 32 others were hospitalised after consuming liquor at Swarna Bar and Restaurant in the city on December 8. A day after the incident, the Krishnalanka police arrested nine persons. The Congress leader and his brother were arrested a couple of days later. The accused persons who were granted bail were T. Venkateswara Rao, R. Malakonda Reddy, N. Vekata Nageswara Rao (cashiers), K.V. Ramana Rao (bar manager), T. Venkata Raju (snack vendor), Banothu Sreenu and N. Durga Rao (suppliers) A. Bhupati (cleaner) and P. Srinivasa Rao (waiter).
