Residents of Guntur, Tenali, Repalle, Mangalagiri and Tadepalli should brace up for a complete blackout on Thursday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. as the Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (SPDCL), Guntur Region, is undertaking a major work.
Exemptions
The SPDCL is planning to erect a tower in between the double circuit feeder lines at Tadikonda. Superintendent Engineer, APSPDCL, Guntur, K. Santhosha Kumar announced the timings at a media conference held on Tuesday. The emergency services, the GGH and the area hospitals at Tenali, Mangalagiri would be exempted from the power cut.

The water works, the filtration plant at Takkelapadu, overhead service reservoirs at Nehru Nagar, Lakshmipuram, BR Stadium and Gujjangundla would also be exempted from the power shutdown.
The SPDCL has sought 25 Mega Watt power to face any emergencies.
On an average, the demand for power in Guntur district hovers between 65 MW and 70 MW.

The SPDCL is planning to connect the 133 KV substation recently constructed at Gujjangundla with the existing substation at Tadikonda to solve the problems of frequent load shedding problems.
New sub-station
The district has 11 feeders of 33 KV capacities, of which seven have been overloaded. Though an option of erecting additional lines was open, the SPDCL decided to go for a new sub-station.
“We are planning to complete the erection of ‘S’ type tower within a day in between the double circuit feeder lines linking to Budampadu, Chebrolu, Tenali and Repalle,” the S.E said.
