Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh chairman P.R. Mohan on Thursday said that SAAP officials were functioning in a biased manner leading to lackadaisical growth of sports in the newly-formed State of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to media persons, he said sports could not prosper in the new State even after two years of bifurcation owing to lack of coordination between SAAP officials and board of directors nominated by the State government. “As nominated members we failed to match the vision of the Chief Minister in fulfilling our responsibilities,” he confessed. “I made a complaint to the Vigilance Department on the several corruption charges involving SAAP officials in September 2015. But no action was taken and even enquiry was not made. Again in March 2016, I gave a complaint but the probe is yet to commence,” he lamented.
He said the board of directors would meet the Chief Minister soon to discuss the sports and youth policies. “We are keen to demand 2 per cent of jobs in all departments to the medal-winning and meritorious players.”
