Women coaches to be appointed in swimming pools under SDAT

Efforts will be made to appoint women coaches in the swimming pools functioning under Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) across the State, N.R.Sivapathi, Minister for School Education, Sports and Youth Welfare said.

Mr.Sivapathi, who conducted a surprise inspection at Anna Stadium here on Sunday, enquired with the stadium authorities about the public patronage for the swimming pool and also advised them to ensure high standards of hygiene at the pool. Earlier, the Minister visited the sports hostel at Anna Stadium complex.

The hostel has 140 boys as inmates and they are being trained in sports and games such as athletics, football, hockey, swimming, and boxing, based on their specialisation.

Jayashree Muralidharan, Collector, R.Manoharan, MLA, N.Manoharan and R.Gnanasekar, zonal chairpersons, P.Kalaiselvan, district sports officer, M.Gilbert Benjamin, manager, Tiruchi sports hostel, and B.Rabinder, executive engineer, Public Works Department (Buildings and Maintenance division), were present.
