Water purifier opened at Samayapuram

A reverse osmosis technique based drinking water purifier unit was inaugurated at the Samayapuram Sri Mariamman temple near here on Thursday.

This is an additional facility to devotees in ensuring supply of protected and safe drinking water. The water purifier unit will ensure supply of 3,000 litres of purified water an hour. A maximum of 15,000 litres would be supplied daily to the devotees, he said.

“Many devotees will benefit through the water purifier,” says G. Thennarasu, Joint Commissioner and Executive Officer of the temple. Devotees reach the temple on padayatra on several occasions and the water purifier would cater to the needs of a large number of them.

Apart from use for potable purpose, the water got from the purifier unit would be used for cooking food for free meals (Annadhanam).

Ragunath Narayanan, chairman of Europa group of companies, which donated the purifier unit, inaugurated the facility on Thursday.
