Training in welding

About 250 unemployed youth will be provided free training in welding by the Government Industrial Training Institute and Welding Research Institute of the BHEL here under the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Mission. According to an official release, the six batches each of 40 persons would be provided the eight week training. Candidates should be in the age group of 18 to 24 and have passed ITI in welding. Applications for the training are being issued at the Government ITI, Tiruverumbur. The last date for submission of filled-in applications is April 27. For details, call 2552238.

Clean India campaign

Master trainers roped into carry out sensitisation measures under the Clean India Campaign in the rural areas were provided training here on Saturday. A sensitisation drive to eliminate open defecation and promote construction of individual household toilets would be taken up in the villages under the campaign. District Collector K.S. Palanisamy, who inaugurated the training, said the master trainers comprising block development officers, deputy block development officers and taluk project managers of the Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission would in turn train panchayat presidents, secretaries, and village-level poverty eradication committee representatives. The trainees were oriented towards implementing the solid waste management programme to be implemented in the rural areas, an official release said.
