All schools under departments Adi Dravidar Welfare and Kallar Reclamation should be brought under the Department of School Education, the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Postgraduate Teachers’ Association has said.
In a resolution passed at the State general council meeting here on Friday, the association said that the integration was essential in the context of uniformity in administration of all schools. It claimed that a long-standing demand for basic pay revision for PG teachers remained unresolved even after the formation of two committees to look into pay anomalies. The association appealed to the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, to sanction a special pay of Rs 2500 for PG teachers and amend Government Order 720, which provides for two-way promotion for graduate teachers, to allow one-way promotion for all teachers.
By another resolution, the meeting, presided over by V. Manivasagan, State president, called for the regularisation of services of teachers appointed on consolidated pay in 2003 and 2004 from the date of their joining. Teachers who had joined after 2003 should also be included in the old pension scheme as the new contributory pension scheme would not provide security in their retired life. The government, a resolution said, could consider one-time special pay revision for private school teachers who remained in the same post for 30 years, according to a press release.

Condemning the practice of sending SMS to the Collector on the time of arrival of each teacher by the head of school, the association felt that it was unprecedented and called for the withdrawal of the order that introduced the practice.
