Tiruchi GH opens exclusive counter for treating fever

Now, five children are undergoing treatment at the unit

Since the onset of monsoon, the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital here is geared up to treat dengue cases.

An exclusive fever wing has been opened to treat dengue patients at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital and special medical and paramedical teams have been closely monitoring the condition of the patients.

Since August, 45 dengue patients including 18 children have been treated at the hospital.

“Timely treatment has resulted in saving their lives. No fatal case has been reported at the hospital,” says P. Karkuzhali, Dean of the college. Most of these patients were from Manachanallur, Manapparai, Srirangam, Perambalur, and Kulithalai.

At present, eight persons including five children are undergoing treatment at the fever unit.

“We supply mosquito net to dengue patients so that it does not spread to other attendants through mosquito bites,” Dr. Karkuzhali added. She appealed to the members of the public to ensure prevention of dengue during the monsoon.

Mosquito breeding sources such as tyres, coconut shells, and other containers should be discarded.
