TNCC chief hits back at Tamilisai

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president Thirunavukkarasar on Wednesday advised BJP State president Tamilisai Soundararajan to resolve groupism in her own party before commenting on the affairs of other political parties.

“First address the rift amongst factions led by senior BJP leaders in Tamil Nadu such as H. Raja, Pon. Radhakrishnan and L. Ganesan,” he said, replying to Ms. Tamilisai’s statement about factionalism in the Congress.

“There is no factionalism in the Congress. All Congress leaders in Tamil Nadu strongly toe the line of party leader Rahul Gandhi,” he said at a press conference in Velankanni.

On the Cauvery issue, he urged the Central and State Governments to exert pressure on Karnataka to nominate members to the Cauvery Management Board. Failure of Karnataka to do so would be tantamount to flouting the Supreme Court directive, he said.

Mr. Thirunavukkarasar said the AIADMK regime in Tamil Nadu was (just) a ‘B’ team of the Central Government.

The TNCC chief condemned the eviction of Congress MLA Vijayadharini from Assembly.

Asked about Union Minister Pon. Radhakrishnan’s remarks that Tamil Nadu could progress only under the leadership of BJP, he retorted: “Let the party first lay its foundation and then talk about progress.”
