The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department has retrieved a piece of land belonging to the Kasi Viswanathar Temple land at Mayiladuthurai.

According to the Joint Commissioner of HR&CE, Mariappan, temple land measuring 2,800 square feet at Kamarajar Street was encroached upon by a private person for the last 20 years.

The authorities also came to know that the encroacher was trying to sell the temple land to another person with the help of forged documents.
