They are protesting against revised tender rules

Operation were hit at the Indane Bottling Plant at Inamkulathur in Tiruchi district on Monday.

Hundreds of tanker lorries catering to the Indane Bottling Plant of Indian Oil Corporation Limited at Inamkulathur on the city outskirts kept off the road on Monday in deference to the call for indefinite strike by the Southern Regional Bulk LPG Transport Owners’ Association in protest against the revised tender rules on hiring tankers. While the Association favours retention of the decades-long practice of fixing hire charges on the basis of regional-level tender, the Central Government had floated State-level tender last month for a five-year duration, requiring the tanker operators to apply online.

The Inamkulathur Bottling Plant has a storage capacity of 1,000 kilolitres and per-day bottling capacity of 33,802, official statistics state.
