From promoting afforestation, depicting how trees sustain the ecological balance of life and illustrating the aftermath of deforestation, school children demonstrated their creativity on canvas to root for preserving the earth's green cover at a drawing contest organised by the Anna Science Centre- Planetarium here on Monday.

The contest organised in connection with the International Year of Forests saw around 100 children from 19 schools putting water colours, sketch pens and colour pencils to good use.

The theme, ‘celebrating forest for people, save forest for future' found resonance with class VIII students.
