Students help SHGs set shop at college bazaar

Collector S. Suresh Kumar takes a look at the products manufactured by women SHGs at the college bazaar conducted at ADM College for Women in Nagapattinam on Tuesday.

Management students of A.D.M. College for Women on Tuesday enabled women self-help groups, who are into manufacturing activities, to sell their products during the ‘college bazaar’ conducted on their premises by the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women.

The SHGs, functioning under the ambit of Mahalir Thittam, showcased dolls, jute products, artificial jewellery and natural herbs among other products they had manufactured, at the college bazaar inaugurated by the District Collector, S. Suresh Kumar, in the presence of the Mahalir Thittam Project Director P. Madhumathi.

The Collector exhorted the management students to facilitate the women self-help groups to increase productivity, identify more business opportunities, diversify product range, improve methodology of production, bring about value addition, and to carry out better packaging and marketing.
