Steps being taken to implement river linking project, says Health Minister

TIRUCHI: 12/11/2019: Health Minister C.Vijayabaskar receiving petitions from residents in Pudukottai on Tuesday.

Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar on Tuesday said steps were being taken to implement the Cauvery-Gundar river link project.

Speaking at an event to receive petitions from the public at Kamarajapuram in Pudukottai, Mr. Vijayabaskar pointed out that implementation of the river inter-linking project was a long-pending demand of the people of the district.

Steps were also being taken to implement a new drinking water scheme for residents of Pudukottai Municipality at a cost of ₹513 crore. The scheme would be implemented taking into account the requirements of the town for the next 30 years.

Mr.Vijayabaskar also disclosed that a Siddha clinic would be established at the Old government hospital in the town.

The Tamil Nadu Housing Board would promote a new tenement-cum-plots on an area of about 100 acres near Pudukottai Government Medical College. A housing tenement with about 2,000 houses was ready to be opened soon. Steps had been taken to build similar housing tenements at Kavinadu West, Santhaipettai and Bose Nagar.

Collector P. Uma Maheswari and other officials were present.
