Special court for landgrab cases opened

Avoid court boycott, seeking unnecessary adjournments advocates told

A special court to try land grabbing cases booked in the district became functional here on Sunday. The court will function from the corporation building adjacent to uzhavar sandhai at Thennur.

After inaugurating the special court and Additional Mahila Court, also housed in the same building, K. Suguna, judge, Madras High Court, said the opening of the special court would provide an opportunity to advocates to specialise in a particular field.

Urging advocates to avoid resorting to court boycott and seeking unnecessary adjournments, the judge said they (advocates) could approach the Principal District and Sessions Judge or the Portfolio Judge for redress of their grievances.

She said they could update their knowledge by constantly going through law journals periodically.
